‘Walking the dog’ is a mini-project/personal exercise that I’ve set myself. As the title suggests, it’s about photographs I’ve taken whilst out walking my dog, and then posted to Instagram.
It is an exercise in seeing, since the area I walk daily is fairly small and it’s somewhere that I know well. The challenge, then, is to come up with new images on a more-or-less daily basis. I’ve noticed a few different themes have started to appear: the slow change of the seasons, the more rapid day-to-day change of the weather, and the ephemeral – oddities that are there one day and gone the next.
This gallery is a selection of my favourite images taken over the course of about a year.
